“It’s okay, Judith. It’s okay,” Dylan cradled her in his arms, gently patting her back, his eyes brimming with compassion. Judith nestled against him, the flames of resentment roaring within her. This was the price for playing along with that man, for making a spectacle that would push Dylan firmly onto her side. Her ordeal was so pitiable, and with Maja’s cold indifference, Dylan would surely despise her now. Her plan was working. A small, triumphant smile curled at the corners of Judith’s lips, though her words were still laced with manic rants. She had sacrificed so much this time; she refused to believe Maja would get off scot-free. Sure enough, Arlene Abbott Sanders soon caught wind of the video. The room spun, and she nearly fainted.
