She didn’t know if these two men were acting on Dylan’s orders, but right now, all she wanted was to see Dylan, to just get the hell out of this godforsaken place. “Please, I’m begging you! Let me go! I need to see Dylan, I messed up, I shouldn’t have poisoned dad, I shouldn’t have targeted Maja, I almost killed her, I know I did wrong, please just give me a break.” But the two men seemed oblivious. They acted as if they couldn’t hear a thing, and Judith felt nothing but despair. Her tears had long since dried up; now, nothing could flow from her eyes. When she had first been thrown in here, Dylan had visited her once, asking if she had any regrets. But at that time, she was driven mad by hatred. “Regrets? Why would I have any regrets? Even if Maja returned to the Sanders family, so what? Dylan would never accept her as his true sister. Dylan only cared about Judith, always only concerned about Judith. This obsession had made her completely overlook the predicament she was in. But now, Judith was close to breaking. Each time she fainted from the pain in her heart, she would be jolted awake by more agony. This kind of torture was worse than death; all she wanted now was release. Every day she prayed in her mind. She thought, “Dylan, please, come see me, I just want to be free! Let me die, please just dump me in the river, I’m not afraid of death anymore, really not afraid.” But the boiling water still scalded her thighs, where the flesh had been combed away to the point where bloody bone was barely concealed. This kind of torment was unbearable for anyone, let
