After a refreshing shower, Felix sauntered downstairs, only to find that she had already finished her dinner.

He prodded again, "Not going to try on the wedding dress?" "No need." The wedding tomorrow wasn't going to happen anyway.

Lacking the energy to chat with him, she decided to hit the hay early.

Felix had indulged in a few too many glasses of wine tonight. Riding the buzz, he confirmed the wedding plans with the event planner one last tbefore climbing into bed.

Carol's attempts at feigning sleep were still painfully unconvincing. Felix pulled her close and murmured her name.

"Carol." She frowned and shifted away, but he shamelessly snuggled up again.

She closed her eyes, pretending to be asleep.
