Chapter 2145

Elsa's face was a picture of surprise. She never expected Athena, that aloof and untouchable girl from high school, to be working for another man now. She couldn't help but wonder if Kerwin would regret treating Athena so well back then if he saw her now.

Feeling smug, Elsa noted that Athena hadn't attended any of the high school reunions for years. Some classmates asked about her every time, curious whether she and Kerwin had tied the knot. Well, the reality was quite the plot twist.

Elsa quickly pulled out her phone and started typing in the high school group chat. "Guess who I just bumped into? Athena! What a surprise!"

The group chat immediately buzzed with activity. Back in school, Athena's grades were nothing special, while Kerwin was always at the top of the class. Kerwin had even confessed to Athena once, only to be politely turned down. But he didn't seem bothered at all; he just pinched her cheek and said, "I get why you said no. My bad for being impulsive. How about I help you with your studies? I'll come over tonight."

Athena was never one for academics, though she adored experimenting with recipes and food.

She once mentioned to her parents that she wanted to become a chef, but attending a prestigious college was out of reach, and her family saw it as a disgrace. Especially when the top student, Kerwin, lived just next door.

Every time Kerwin tasted Athena's culinary creations, he was genuinely impressed.

"Athena, you've got a real knack for cooking. Maybe academics aren't your thing."

Athena loved tweaking recipes to make them tastier and healthier, but her family thought being a chef was beneath her, especially for a girl. So whenever she cooked at home, she'd get scolded. Eventually, she started cooking at Kerwin's place instead.

Kerwin's parents were often abroad for business during that time, leaving him mostly on his own.

Athena's parents adored Kerwin, hoping their daughter would get closer to him and snag him before anyone else did. After all, a promising young man like Kerwin wouldn't stay single for long. So, Athena spent a lot of time at Kerwin's house, and nobody said a word.

Before Kerwin's confession, their relationship was purely platonic. She cooked, he ate, praised her, and she glowed with happiness.

Athena seemed a bit slow on the uptake, especially when it came to emotions. She liked Kerwin, enjoyed his company, but couldn't quite grasp that it was love.
