Chapter 144

Alexander’s POV.

The evening air was crisp and inviting as I sat across from Sebastian at the most exclusive diner in the city. The elite crowd hummed quietly around us, soft jazz playing in the background The faint clink of glasses and cutlery filled the space, but my attention was entirely on my younger brother.

We were dressed for the occasion, Sebastian in a tailored charcoal suit and me in navy blue. I swirled my wine glass, the deep red liquid catching the dim, golden light.

“You’re quiet tonight,” I said, leaning back in

my chair.

Sebastian shrugged, sipping his own glass of Bordeaux. “Just taking it all in. This place screams you, though.”

I chuckled. “And you hate it.”

“Not hate. More like… I’d never step foot in here on my own,” he replied, smirking.

Before I could respond, the sound of heels clicking on the polished floor made me glance toward the entrance. And there she was. Christiana.

Time seemed to slow as she walked in, her figure graced by a sleek, emerald–green gown that hugged her curves and flowed like liquid silk to the floor. Her hair was swept to one side, soft curls framing her flawless face. The neckline of her dress dipped just enough to be elegant yet tantalizing, and the slit up one side revealed a hint of her toned leg with every step.

Sebastian turned to see what–or rather, who–had stolen my attention. His jaw slackened, his eyes widening slightly as they took her in.

“Wow,” he murmured under his breath, his usual composed demeanor momentarily shattered.

Pride swelled in my chest. I couldn’t help but smirk. Of course, he was stunned. Christiana had that effect on everyone, it felt different watching my brother, of all people, try to collect himself.

As she approached our table, her radiant smile grew, lighting up the entire room–or at least, my world.

“Evening, gentlemen,” she greeted warmly.

Sebastian and I stood as she reached us. I leaned in to hug her, inhaling the subtle floral scent of her perfume. “You look stunning as always,” I whispered in her ear, pulling back just enough to press a kiss to her cheek. My hand lingered on her waist. “I can’t wait to take this dress off you.”

Christiana laughed softly, her cheeks faintly pink. She playfully swatted my arm. “Not tonight, Alex.”

“We’ll see,” I teased, earning a laugh that sent a ripple of warmth through me.

Turning, I gestured to Sebastian. “Christiana, meet my brother, Sebastian. Sebastian, this is Christiana.”
