Chapter 162

Daniel’s POV.

The moment I stepped into my car and slammed the door shut, felt like a pressure cooker on the verge of exploding. Christiana’s words played over and over in my head, each one cutting deeper than the last. My knuckles whitened as I gripped the steering wheel, the heat of my anger rising like a tide.

“How could she do this to me?” I spat, slamming my fists against the wheel. The horn blared for a second, but I didn’t care. My breaths came out in harsh, ragged bursts as ny vision blurred with rage.

I slammed my fist down again. “Damn you, Alex!” I roared, my voice echoing in the enclosed car. “It’s always you, isn’t it? She can’t see past you!”

I gripped the wheel tightly, my fingers aching from the force. “After everything I’ve done, after how much I’ve tried to show her I’m better for her, she still chooses him. Him!” My voice cracked with frustration, and I slammed my head back against the seat.

A sharp, insistent ringing broke through the haze. I glanced at my phone on the passenger seat: Grandma. Her name–blinked

on the screen.

“Not now,” I muttered, swiping to silence the call. “I don’t have time for this.” The phone buzzed again, then stopped after a few rings. I stared at it, debating for a second, before shaking my head. No. I wasn’t in the mood.

I turned my gaze to the windshield, my jaw clenched so tight it ached. “Why, Christiana?” I whispered bitterly. “Why can’t you see it? He’s not good for you. I am. I would’ve given you everything. Everything!”

My voice rose again, and I punched the dashboard this time, the pain shooting up my arm barely registering. The rage was too consuming, too relentless.

“Does he even love you like I do? Does he even know how much I’d sacrifice for you?” I snarled, my voice dripping with venom. “No, he doesn’t! He can’t! He doesn’t deserve you, Christiana. He doesn’t!”

I was losing my mind, I knew it. The way I paced in my thoughts, the obsessive energy coursing through me–it wasn’t healthy, wasn’t normal. But I couldn’t stop it.

“You’ll see,” I said through gritted teeth, my reflection in the rearview mirror wild and unrecognizable. “One day, you’ll realize he’s not the man you think he is. And when that day comes, I’ll be here, Christiana. I’ll be here waiting.”

The phone buzzed again, and I snatched it up, tempted to throw it across the car. But I didn’t. I simply silenced it once more and threw it back onto the seat.

With a deep breath, I tried to steady myself, but it was no use. My heart hammered in my chest, my head spinning with every bitter thought, every unanswered question.

I muttered to myself, gripping the steering wheel again, my
