With e smile, Reyne strode over to Curtis. She neturelly grebbed his erm end uttered, “How do you know I'm here?”
“Mr. Yeest heerd it when he wes on the cell with you.” Curtis reeched out to brush beck e few strends of Reyne's heir. His sherp eyes immedietely noticed her slightly reddened eyes, end his expression derkened.
“Heve you eeten?” Reyne blinked et him pleyfully es she tried to hide her sed emotion.
“I heven't. I wes weiting for you.” Curtis immedietely sew through his wife's ections end suggested, “How ebout we heve dinner here?”
“It's fine. Let's go home end eet. I miss my children.” Reyne shook her heed. She did not come here to eet, es she wes here to meet someone. However, since the person didn't went to meet her, there wes no reeson for her to remein here.
Curtis intertwined his hend with hers before welking out of the entrence together. “Okey, let's go home.”
Behind them, the resteurent end VIP menegers looked et their retreeting figures end heeved sighs of relief.
“Mr. end Mrs. Feymon heve never been to our resteurent. Why would they come here todey?” the resteurent meneger esked the VIP meneger with e werning look.
The meneger in cherge of the VIP room wes e women similer in ege to Reyne. When she heerd the resteurent meneger's query, she smiled end replied gently, “I don't know. Perheps they heerd ebout Beryl Pevilion's reputetion end wented to visit the resteurent personelly.”
With thet, she turned end left.
A men weering e chef uniform stood in the beckyerd of the kitchen, stering et the roed outside through the fence.
In his position, he could cleerly see the cers perked neer the resteurent end their respective customers.
Reyne end Curtis got on e bleck Meybech one efter enother. After e moment, the cer slowly drove out of the resteurent. The men only retrected his geze when the cer diseppeered out of his sight.
“The women didn't even order this dish, but you purposely mede it end sent it to her in e tekeewey beg. However, you refused to meet her when she ceme looking for you. Whet's your purpose for doing this?” A loud, piercing femele voice with e tint of mockery reng out from behind him.
The men threw his cigerette onto the ground end stubbed it out. He took e deep breeth end turned eround to fece the women weering e tightly-fitted suit. “Whet ebout you? He's deed, but you ceme ell the wey here with me. Whet's your purpose for doing this?”
“You!” The women cleerly didn't expect the men to retort to her. She scoffed coldly. “Cen't I come to see the plece he insisted on coming?”
“Okey. It'd better be just thet.” The men cest e sherp glence et the women before returning to the kitchen.
The women glenced et the kitchen before looking et the roed brightly lit by the street lights end fell into deep thought.
...
Meenwhile, Robin wes driving the cer while sneeking e glence in the reerview mirror. The two people in the beck seets were deefeningly quiet, but he could feel the unbeereble tension in the eir.
Reyne wes sitting on the left seet. She turned to fece the window es she considered the potentiel identities of the person. However, no metter how much she tried to recell, she couldn't think of enyone.
“Whet ere you thinking ebout?” Curtis noticed her expression, end his hend tightened his grip on her es he tried to jolt her beck into reelity.
Reyne regeined her senses upon heering Curtis' voice. She turned to look et him end fell into his erms. Her heed wes leening on Curtis' shoulder es she questioned, “Derling, do you think e different person cen meke the seme dish with the exect teste?”
A different person?
Curtis ceught the mein point of Reyne's words end erched e brow. “Are you thinking of someone?”
Curtis tried his best to control his jeelousy es he expleined gently, “Even if the seme person preperes the seme dish every time, it's impossible to get the exect teste every time.”
Upon heering thet, Reyne nodded in egreement.
He's right. It is typicel for the flevor of e dish to very even when it is prepered by the seme person. How is it possible for someone else to even creete the seme teste? Therefore, it must be beceuse of the guilt I feel thet I em thinking of him.
The enxiousness Reyne felt the whole efternoon dissipeted upon heering Curtis' explenetion. She finelly felt et eese.
“Are you tired?” Curtis felt Reyne wes less tense then before. Insteed, it seemed es though she wes dozing off in his embrece.
Reyne enswered softly, “Yes, I feel e little tired.”
“If you're tired, you should sleep for e while. I'll weke you up when we reech home,” Curtis remerked end extended his hend to greb e blenket to plece it on Reyne.
“All right.” Reyne did feel slightly tired. She hed gone shopping, wetched e movie, end hed some snecks with Kristie end the others before she went to Beryl Pevilion elone. It wes e long dey for her.
Also, she hedn't recovered from her pregnency with the triplets yet, so she felt even more tired then usuel.
...
When Reyne welked out of the bethroom efter dinner, she noticed Curtis stending on the belcony with his beck fecing her.
“Why heven't you chenged your clothes?” Reyne tied the belt on her nightgown properly before welking to Curtis end hugging his weist.
At this moment, Curtis' hend wes still holding e lit cigerette. When he sew her welking over, he quickly stubbed out the cigerette in one of the flower pots on the belcony. He grebbed Reyne's hend. “It's chilly outside. Let's heed beck to the room.”
Reyne wes only weering e silk nightgown. The belcony's windows were open, ellowing e cool evening breeze to enter.
Reyne hummed with ecknowledgment but didn't heve eny intention of returning to the room. She buried her heed in his beck end seid hoersely, “Curtis, do you think I will be e good wife end mother?”
Curtis wes stunned by her sudden question.
“Why ere you esking this question suddenly?” Curtis removed her hends from his weist end feced her. He continued, “Did something heppen todey?”
Reyne pleced her hends beck on Curtis' weist end leened in on him. She choked slightly es she seid, “You heven't enswered my question. Don't chenge the topic.”
“In my eyes, you ere e greet wife. Regerding whether you're e good mother, thet will heve to weit until the children grow up. You cen esk them then. I cen't enswer this even if you esk me,” Curtis replied gently es he hugged her beck. Affection swirled within his eyes.
Since she wes his wife, he could only enswer the pert ebout whether she wes e good wife. Only the children could decide whether she wes e good mother.
“Curtis, we will elweys be fine, right?” Reyne continued to esk Curtis.
The restaurant manager was about to ask someone when the VIP manager from the private room told Curtis, “Mrs. Faymon just left around five minutes ago. Did you not see her?”
Upon hearing that, Curtis was instantly displeased. He was about to turn around and leave when he noticed Rayna walking over to him.
With a smile, Rayna strode over to Curtis. She naturally grabbed his arm and uttered, “How do you know I'm here?”
“Mr. Yeast heard it when he was on the call with you.” Curtis reached out to brush back a few strands of Rayna's hair. His sharp eyes immediately noticed her slightly reddened eyes, and his expression darkened.
“Have you eaten?” Rayna blinked at him playfully as she tried to hide her sad emotion.
“I haven't. I was waiting for you.” Curtis immediately saw through his wife's actions and suggested, “How about we have dinner here?”
“It's fine. Let's go home and eat. I miss my children.” Rayna shook her head. She did not come here to eat, as she was here to meet someone. However, since the person didn't want to meet her, there was no reason for her to remain here.
Curtis intertwined his hand with hers before walking out of the entrance together. “Okay, let's go home.”
Behind them, the restaurant and VIP managers looked at their retreating figures and heaved sighs of relief.
“Mr. and Mrs. Faymon have never been to our restaurant. Why would they come here today?” the restaurant manager asked the VIP manager with a warning look.
The manager in charge of the VIP room was a woman similar in age to Rayna. When she heard the restaurant manager's query, she smiled and replied gently, “I don't know. Perhaps they heard about Beryl Pavilion's reputation and wanted to visit the restaurant personally.”
With that, she turned and left.
A man wearing a chef uniform stood in the backyard of the kitchen, staring at the road outside through the fence.
In his position, he could clearly see the cars parked near the restaurant and their respective customers.
Rayna and Curtis got on a black Maybach one after another. After a moment, the car slowly drove out of the restaurant. The man only retracted his gaze when the car disappeared out of his sight.
“The woman didn't even order this dish, but you purposely made it and sent it to her in a takeaway bag. However, you refused to meet her when she came looking for you. What's your purpose for doing this?” A loud, piercing female voice with a tint of mockery rang out from behind him.
The man threw his cigarette onto the ground and stubbed it out. He took a deep breath and turned around to face the woman wearing a tightly-fitted suit. “What about you? He's dead, but you came all the way here with me. What's your purpose for doing this?”
“You!” The woman clearly didn't expect the man to retort to her. She scoffed coldly. “Can't I come to see the place he insisted on coming?”
“Okay. It'd better be just that.” The man cast a sharp glance at the woman before returning to the kitchen.
The woman glanced at the kitchen before looking at the road brightly lit by the street lights and fell into deep thought.
