Chapter 0197
Kain POV
The threat of the Shadow Rock pack had been eliminated for now.
The mass majority were anxious but accepted my terms for peace and somehow, Hector had managed to get the council involved.
I was relieved to hear they weren't going to charge me with war crimes myself for the attack, and that they were being supportive in monitoring the pack.
In time I would need to attend a hearing to discuss my involvement.
I just wanted to secure the safety of my people, and it feels like Alora and I have finally done that. Finally the Shadow Rock and Nightshade Reformed weren't at war, our people could finally enjoy some rest.
I have to admit, I don't think it would have gone as well as it did, had Hector not have been by my side. Maybe being an alpha myself now, I know I can't be controlled, maybe that is what has changed...
I was looking forward to some respite, to sometime at the Nightshade Reformed pack.
"Kaia?"
"In the office." I respond to Hector as he calls out my name as he enters the front door. He had been at the Shadow Rock pack again, tasking himself with liaising with the council.
He walks in, his hair messy...he's been running his hands through it. He does that when he is stressed. His eyes lock on mine, a smile entering onto the corner of his lips. My lips copy his until my eyes sink lower to the holdall bag casually hanging over his shoulder. My heart sinks, I thought we would stay here for a few more days...not that I didn't want to go back to the Dark Phantom pack..
"We are leaving...already?"
"No, I am leaving...you are staying."
"I thought wherever you went, I went?" The delivery of my words are like a joke, but I mean quite the opposite. Standing up, I move around the desk and towards him. I wanted to stay here but why was I hesitant for him to leave without me.
"I need to go check something out."
