Chapter 53
Chapter 53 Kenneth's words practically grated on Angela's ears. She coolly responded, "Don't worry. I know where I stand in your heart." Then they sank into an awkward silence in the living room.
Angela got up and looked at Kenneth, saying, "I'll clean up the kitchen. Later, I'll order some takeout. What do you feel like eating?" "Whatever. I'll be in the study working," Kenneth replied before heading off.
After Kenneth left, Angela tidied up the kitchen, ordered her favorite takeout, and waited in the living room, engrossed in her phone. In less than an hour, the takeout arrived. Angela set up the food on the table and called Kenneth to eat.
However, his face turned sour upon seeing the dishes.
"Are you doing this on purpose?" he asked.
Angela was just about to dig into her bowl when she heard him and shot him a puzzled look. "What does that mean?"
"You know I can't handle spicy stuff, and yet you went for all these fiery dishes," he griped.
Angela, a spice enthusiast, used to whip up milder meals, well aware of Kenneth's delicate stomach.
Now she raised an eyebrow, keeping her cool. "Didn't I grab you some veggies and spaghetti with fried eggs?"
'He has said 'whatever' earlier, and now he is getting all choosy. What a picky guy!' she thought.
Kenneth tightened his lips, a chilly look in his eyes.
With every bite Angela took, Kenneth's stare turned even colder.
A few minutes later, Angela let out a sigh, setting her fork down. She looked at Kenneth and said, "You'll have to make do today. From tomorrow on, I'll find someone to whip up our meals." After a short silence, Kenneth reluctantly nodded.
After the meal, Angela cleaned up, and Kenneth, with a calm expression, said, "I'm going to take a shower. Help me."
Angela's expression changed, and she couldn't hide her disbelief. "Can't you do it yourself?"
As he saw her resistance and disdain, Kenneth's face darkened. He coldly said, "Given my current state, can I do it myself?"
Angela bit her lip. After hesitating for a moment, she reluctantly said, "Fine."
As she pushed Kenneth into the bathroom, she realized the awkwardness of the situation.
"Can you undress yourself? I'll go fill the tub." she suggested.
