‘Snow.”

I frowned watching her back away. My cat, who normally ran to me when called, hissed and pressed herself against Evelyn Knox’s legs.

This wasn’t like Snow at all. She always jumped into her carrier when we traveled, eagerly following me everywhere. Now she looked at me like I was a stranger – worse, someone to fear.
