Chloe sauntered over and swung the door open, just as she'd expected. Connor stood there, a stormy look plastered on his face. He was clearly there to confront her. Not one to hide her amusement, Chloe smirked and teased, "Did you go and break some poor girl's heart?"

Connor's gaze bore into her, icy and intense, like a flame trapped in frost, ready to ignite at any moment. Chloe remained unbothered, her demeanor relaxed and casual.

Her room had a liquor cabinet, and the butler had already told her she could help herself to whatever she fancied. She had just uncorked a bottle of 1985 Sassicaia and poured herself another half glass in a tal wine glass.
