All eyes turned their way, curiosity and surprise etched on every face. There they stood: Connor, the once-celebrated figure of the Eldridge Elites, and Diana, the so-called "crippled heiress" of the Gilbert family. Gossip about them never seemed to die down, and now, with everyone watching, imaginations were running wild.

But inside, Diana felt a growing dread. She had never seen Connor so livid. Lately, she'd been pushing his buttons, and he'd been warning her right back. Yet, deep down, she wasn't really scared. She couldn't believe that the years of their relationship could just evaporate. Besides, she was sure Connor felt guilty about her situation. He'd always been ruthless to others, but with her, he was different. So, in some twisted way, she kept testing his patience, as if to prove something.

But now, seeing Connor's cold and unfamiliar demeanor, she spotted a flicker of something dangerous in his eyes. That icy, unrelenting look felt unreal, and instinctively, fear crept up on her.

"Where are you taking me? Let me go!" she demanded at first, her voice steady. But Connor remained silent. He bundled her out of the Dove Peace Diner and into a car. Ten minutes later, they were at Sartori Tower, and Diana found herself back in a wheelchair.

As she was wheeled into the building, she tried to shout for help, but it was useless. People occasionally glanced their way, but seeing Connor, they quickly scurried off. In the elevator, Diana watched as Connor hit the button for the top floor, a deep unease settling in her stomach.
