For Grant, things were different. Connor knew exactly what was on Grant's mind, but Chloe was still in the dark. Even if he tried to explain, she wouldn't believe him. It was like there was this special bond between her and her friend, a boundary he just couldn't cross. It

really got to him. The more Chloe protected that boundary, the more it hurt him.

Connor hopped out of the car and strolled over. Chloe was a bit taken aback to see him: "Why are you here so early?"

Connor placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder and gave a soft smile: "I called you from the hospital, so I just came straight over."

Seeing how worn out Connor looked, Chloe asked, "Are you hungry? I can whip up a bowl of spaghetti for you."

Connor settled in beside her. Chloe wasn't really eating much; she'd only had a couple of bites. Connor glanced at her bowl of spaghetti: "I'm actually pretty hungry. Are you going to finish that?" Chloe replied, "No, I'm done. I'll get the chef to make you a fresh bowl."

Connor stopped her: "No need to go through the trouble, I'll just have yours." He grabbed a new fork and started on Chloe's bowl.

Chloe warned, "It's cold now." But Connor was already digging in.
