Chapter 1042

Chloe was quiet for a long moment.

She turned to Summer, her face as serious as ever. "Aaron, I'm not going back. Everyone here today-they're my family now. From now on, this is where I belong."

Summer's small fingers twisted the edge of his shirt. "Mom... are you really not going back to Dad?"

Chloe hesitated, searching for the right words. But in the end, she decided to be honest. "Aaron, I've always seen you as grown up for your age, so I'm going to tell you the truth. Your dad made a huge mistake. I already had a family, but when I lost my memory, he took me away without telling anyone. I can't forgive him for that, so I won't be seeing him anymore."

She gently pulled Summer into her arms. "Even though your dad and I are apart, he'll always be your father. If you ever miss him, you can visit him in Japan whenever you want. We may not be together, but our love for you will never change."

Chloe knew this was a lot for Summer to take in.

Summer wasn't like other kids, though.

He thought about things-really thought about them.
