At nine o’clock the following morning, the sunlight filtered through the half–drawn curtains, casting a warm glow at the foot of the bed. The master bedroom was peaceful and cozy.

The young couple had slept in each other’s arms since the previous night. Joycelyn, who was in the early stages of her pregnancy, had been struggling with restless nights for the past twenty days. However, nestled in Ellison’s embrace, she rested deeply and was still sound asleep.
