Chapter 518

Sylvia whipped out her phone and snapped a dozen photos of Naomi, making sure to capture every angle of the red handprint on her face.

Naomi's voice trembled. "Sylvia, what are you doing?"

"Mom, running away won't fix anything," Sylvia replied, her tone firm. "I need to go straight to the source this time. Stay here at the hospital and wait for me to call. And promise me, no more wiring money to that man, okay?"

"Okay," Naomi whispered, her face ghostly pale as she nodded.

After tucking Naomi in and making sure she was settled, Sylvia quietly slipped out of the hospital room.

Out in the hallway, she took a deep breath and dialed Kay's number.

It barely rang three times before Kay picked up, as if she'd been expecting the call.

"Who's this?" Kay's voice had that unmistakable air of superiority—the kind of confidence you didn't just put on.

But, to be fair, Kay had earned it.

Sylvia clenched her fist, forcing herself to sound steady. "Ms. Winslet? It's Sylvia. Can we meet up? I need to talk to you."

"Oh? What's this about?" Kay's tone was nonchalant, impossible to read.

"There's something important we have to discuss face to face," Sylvia pushed on, biting her lip.

Sylvia was surprised when, after a brief pause, Kay simply agreed.

"I'll text you the address," Kay said.
