Chapter 398

Effie smiled and said, "No need to thank me. You earned this through your own hard work-you don't owe anyone gratitude."

Manager Kenyatta was the grandson of Effie's grandmother's old neighbor. After graduating from a technical school and struggling to find a job, he'd grown listless for a while, until Effie arranged for him to work here.

Once Effie left to join her colleagues for dinner, everyone finally relaxed.

They had all assumed that someone as difficult as Isabel would cause a huge scene, maybe even a blowout argument. To their surprise, the whole mess had been resolved so easily.

Shirley leaned over and whispered to Effie, "Effie, was that woman just now Isabel?"

Effie nodded. "Yeah."

"Tsk, she's seriously got a few screws loose-should probably get help," Shirley muttered under her breath.

Honestly, if Isabel hadn't started trouble, none of this would've happened. But she insisted on stirring the pot, and in the end, she got thrown out-so really, the only one embarrassed was herself.

With that unpleasant episode behind them, the group quickly returned to their cheerful dinner.

What Effie didn't notice was that, not far behind her, someone had been watching her the whole time.

Vinson Elliott glanced at Lyman and said, "You know, your girl isn't simple."
