Chapter 26

Cassandra was stunned.

What was she supposed to say?

Not knowing what to do, she could only purse her lips and look at Orlando. The latter seemed to have sensed her asking for help, but he did not intend to help her. He just said nonchalantly, “Cassie, Mom is asking you. You should clarify it for me or I’ll be misunderstood.”

His deep gaze fell upon her. There seemed to be a glint of joy in his eyes.

What did Orlando mean by that? He’s clearly dragging me into this, she thought.

Cassandra pursed her lips in embarrassment and could only reply calmly, “Mom, since Grandpa Peter’s fine, I’ll leave with Orlando. We’re going for a movie together.”

Then she pulled Orlando and walked out. Gabriela’s voice sounded behind her. “Your grandpa will wake up in joy right away if he knows you’re going on a date.”

Cassandra

didn’t let go of Orlando until she got in the car.

He looked sideways at the woman beside him and asked in a low voice, “What movie. are we going to watch?”

“I was lying to Gabriela,” Cassandra replied indifferently.

“Didn’t you say not to lie?” Orlando questioned..

“It was a white lie. She won’t blame me even if she finds out,” explained Cassandra.

“A white lie?” Orlando stared at her. “So what are you trying to imply?”

Frowning, Cassandra realized what he meant. “I didn’t mean to imply anything. I didn’t say anything. Don’t overthink.”

“Okay, I won’t overthink. There are only two of us now. Can you tell me if there’s anything wrong with my body?” he asked self–righteously.

“It’s your body. How would I know?” She quickly turned around, not wanting to keep this conversation going.

Even so, Orlando made her feel like he wouldn’t let her go if she didn’t answer him.
