Chapter 35

Chapter 35

The big bald man wasn’t ready to give up yet. He slammed his foot on the brake again and again. But then, the back end of his car smashed into the guardrail, and he had a sinking feeling in his stomach.

“Ah! Help me! Help me! He yelled, rolling down the window, his voice barely reaching through the rush of wind as the car swerved halfway up the mountain. Within seconds, his face was drenched in tears.

Behind him, a car sped through the wind, swerving around him with ease. It didn’t slow down, not even for a second. Ir didn’t hesitate, avoiding the crash and continuing on its way

As it passed, the bald man caught a glimpse of a child’s face through one of the car windows.

Her bright eyes stared at him–calm and emotionless. There was no fear or smiles. It was just the empty look of someone who was already saying goodbye.

The bald man froze. He remembered her from earlier. Just before they went into the lounge, he’d seen her for a split second when he turned around to light a cigarette. She had been standing right by their cars.

So it was her… he thought.

But it was too late to think about any of that now,

The wind howled, biting through the air. As his car plunged to the ground, a loud explosion ripped through the silence, followed by a series of deafening bangs. Flames shot up into the sky. The other cars had no choice but to stop.

Larry quickly pulled over at the next mountain pass, his heart pounding. As he opened the car door, he felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. His legs almost buckled.

“Stanley, send someone up!” Quinlyn called into the radio briefly. Then she quickly unbuckled her seatbelt and jumped out

of the car.

“Boss Boss!” the man with yellow hair screamed, his voice cracking.

He collapsed on the ground at the bend in the road, his face twisted in pain as he looked at the burning wreckage of the car. He knew his boss was gone for good. Clenching his fist in frustration, he pounded the ground.

“Why? Why did this happen?” he shouted.

It was supposed to be an easy task. Then they could kick back, have some drinks, and relax with women.

But now their plan went up in smoke.

He couldn’t make sense of it until he heard footsteps behind him. He turned his head, and there stood Larry. His face went red, a rush of anger flooding his chest. Without thinking, he lunged at him,
