Sophia’s heart sank under the weight of the man’s icy glance. She didn’t rush to explain, instead lying back down in silence.

Jason closed the bedroom door behind him and made his way to the living room couch. He sat down and said in a cold tone, “Sophia’s sick. You really had no clue? Why aren’t you here taking care of her yourself? Is your work really that important?”

Robin, who was already seething with resentment, found himself speechless under Jason’s imposing demeanor. He could only mutter with downcast eyes, “She didn’t tell me. I had no idea it was this serious. Plus, I came over as soon as I wrapped things up.”

Jason was silent for a moment before speaking again, “I called her and found out she was sick. I came over to check on her. Earlier, she slipped in the bathroom while showering. I just went in to help her out. It’s not what you’re thinking.”
