Sylvia's expression was neutral. "Not sure yet, I might spend New Year's in J City, or maybe I'll travel. Wherever I end up on New Year's Day, that's where I'll celebrate."

Her casual tone belied the emotion it stirred in Milanda's heart. "Boss, why don't you come spend New Year's with my family?"

Milanda had been working with Sylvia for two years. Although she didn't know the specifics of Sylvia's family situation, she knew that Sylvia was always alone during the holidays. "Pity party for me?" Sylvia looked up, a teasing smile on her face.

"Of course not, I just thought it would be nice to have a lively New Year. My parents love having a full house. Back in college, I used to invite classmates who couldn't go home for the holidays." Sylvia chuckled, "Thanks, but that's alright. New Year's is just another holiday for me, a good chance to take a break."

Milanda nodded reluctantly. "Alright then, you've been working hard all year. You deserve some rest."

As Sylvia's phone rang, Milanda took it as her cue to leave, gathering her things. S~ᴇaʀᴄh the FɪndNøvel.ɴᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

"Busy?" Magdalen asked.

Leaning back, Sylvia replied with a relaxed air, "Not too bad. Things have slowed down since yesterday. What's up, need something?"
