Chapter 2449

His mood was as restless as a storm, not finding a moment of peace. The

memory of Sophia dodging Robin's gaze earlier that day weighed on his heart like a boulder, causing an invisible ache.

He was willing to give her time to fall for him, yet he feared that before she could, she might turn back to Robin.

Given her childlike innocence and her past affection for Robin, could she truly let

him go?

His love for her, as deep as it had been, had already caused him pain. This time, she had given him hope. If she were to turn away again, he wasn't sure he could bear it.

Jason stared into the abyss of the night, his unease as boundless as the darkness itself.

Sophia, too, had a restless night. Perhaps she had gone to bed too early, for after her bath, she lay awake, tossing and turning.

She tried forcing herself not to think of Jason, turned off the lights, and buried her head under the covers, counting sheep in an attempt to find sleep.

But after only a few sheep, Jason's face would invade her thoughts, sometimes tender and holding her close, other times stern and reprimanding.

Sophia caught herself drifting off topic and would drag her focus back to counting sheep.
