Chapter 2504

Sophia paused, caught off guard. Jason had asked her this very question before, but back then, she hadn't had an answer-and she certainly hadn't given him

one.

But now, sitting across from Robin, the answer came to her without hesitation. She met his gaze honestly. "No matter when-ten years ago, or any time since-if I ever had to choose between you and him, I'd always choose him."

She had once cared deeply for Robin, tried her best for his sake, but Robin had always been more of an ideal to her-someone she admired from afar. Jason, on the other hand, was part of her life, woven into her very being. Losing him would be like losing a part of herself; she wouldn't know how to go on.

The last light in Robin's eyes faded. He nodded quietly. "I understand."

Sophia glanced down at her phone. There was still no message. Usually by now, Jason would have sent her half a dozen texts.

An uneasy feeling crept over her.

A waiter arrived with their food. Sophia said, "You can wrap this up for him, please -we won't be dining in."

Robin looked at her, confused.

Sophia reached for her bag. "We've said everything that needed saying. I won't keep you company for dinner. I want to go home."

Home-her home with Jason.

Robin spoke up. "I ordered your favorite dishes. I thought maybe it could make up for what I missed before, give both of us some closure. Maybe this is the last time we'll ever eat together. Won't you stay?"
