Chapter 2512

Jason brought over a hairdryer, sat at the edge of the bed, and gently began to dry Sophia's hair. She closed her eyes, melting under the soothing touch of his fingers massaging her scalp. Before her hair was even halfway dry, she drifted off to sleep, curled up beneath the covers.

Jason quietly put away the hairdryer, tucked the blanket around her, and left the room.

He made a few work calls in the study. By the time he returned to the master bedroom, he found Sophia had kicked off the blanket and rolled to the far side of the bed.

He scooped her up, tucked her back in, and lay down to hold her close as they slept.

It wasn't long before Sophia was roused by his kisses. Still half-asleep, she was keenly aware of the heat radiating from his chest.

The curtains slowly drew shut, dimming the room. Her sleepy protests faded into the darkness.

By five in the afternoon, Sophia was sprawled out on the bed, gazing at the setting sun outside the window. Hearing movement, she turned her head to the man emerging from the bathroom. "I'm starving!" she called. Jason, hair still damp and glasses off, looked every bit the cool and distant intellectual—except for the warmth in his eyes. "What do you want to eat?"

Sophia's eyes sparkled. “Let's go visit Father Quintin. We can make it in time for dinner.”

Jason nodded. "Alright. Do you think you can get up?"

"Of course," Sophia replied, pushing herself upright-only to suddenly wince and shoot him a glare.
