Chapter 2554

The Farleys had only one daughter, Jolin. She'd been spoiled from a young age- no one ever dared say a harsh word to her, let alone lay a hand on her. So when Mrs. Farley saw someone actually strike her little girl, her face turned white with rage. Clutching her purse, she stormed over and swung it right at Sylvia's face.

Eugene's expression hardened as he moved to intercept Mrs. Farley, but Sylvia grabbed his arm and pulled him aside. Without missing a beat, Sylvia lifted her leg and kicked Mrs. Farley, who looked every bit the spiteful shrew, sending her stumbling backward in her high heels. Mrs. Farley staggered several steps before someone caught her. Doubled over in pain, she clutched her stomach with one hand and, with the other, jabbed a finger at Sylvia. "Get her! I want her taught a lesson-no, I want her destroyed!"

Greg's face darkened with anger. "Ms. Jarvis, I was willing to let things slide because you're a woman, but you dare lay hands on both my daughter and my wife? You're out of line!"

He snapped at his driver, "Grab her! Teach her a lesson-and when you're done, hand her over to the police."

Eugene stepped between them, shielding Sylvia. "Mr. Farley, you saw what happened. Your wife and daughter were the ones who started this, both with their words and their hands. Sylvia did nothing wrong."

Greg's jaw worked furiously as he glared at Eugene. "Eugene, out of respect for your father, I'm trying not to make this a big deal. But if you keep protecting this woman, then any friendship between our families ends here."

Eugene let out a cold laugh. "If this is how you treat my friends, I'm not seeing much of a friendship to begin with."

Greg's voice was ice. "Fine! Let's see what your father has to say about this!" He turned to order his driver again, but just then, someone tugged at his arm. Already at his breaking point, he nearly snapped-until he saw who it was. It was one of his oldest business clients, Mr. Matz, and Greg quickly swallowed his anger. "Mr. Matz, I'm sorry you had to witness this mess. I'll make it up to you over drinks later. Let me just handle this girl first—”

"If you try, it'll be too late." Mr. Matz gave Greg a warning look, his voice low. "You can't touch Sylvia."

"Why not?" Greg frowned.

"Have you forgotten what happened to Baron, the one who disappeared in New Haven?" Mr. Matz said quietly.

Greg froze.
