Chapter 596 Are You Worried I’ll Steal Her Away?
David patted Peter’s head and smiled, “It’s been hard on you to be the younger brother of Anna.”
Peter, not understanding his playful teasing, earnestly replied, “Anna is very nice. Don’t say that about her.”
This took David aback for a moment. Then he burst into laughter. “You’re a good kid. You can be the one to protect Anna
from now on.”
Peter nodded solemnly, “Definitely.”
The group went to the restaurant in a lively manner. Ben and Anna pulled Peter and sat down next to David,
enthusiastically asking David to help them with their dishes.
David was very patient and accommodating with the children, and they all enjoyed their meal together. Charlotte smiled as
she watched them.
Although more than a year had passed, the children didn’t seem to find David a stranger at all. Amid the cheerful chatter, it

David nodded and continued to glance toward the neighboring house.
Once seated, he didn’t hesitate to ask, “Have you reconciled with Joe?”
Charlotte nodded. “Yes.”
David sighed with a bitter smile. “I was always one step behind.”

wanted to escape from Joe, and I didn’t want to let down your feelings…”
“You don’t have to say it. I understand,” David interrupted her, his smile growing more bitter.
In fact, he had understood from the beginning that Charlotte had never truly fallen in love with him. It was just that he had
always tried to force it.
Charlotte thought momentarily and decided to tell him how Joe had brought Danny to him.
“In fact, I had already guessed it.”
A hint of understanding in his eyes. He calmly continued, “Danny’s appearance was too coincidental, and after thinking
about it for a while, everything became clear.”
But he couldn’t blame Joe. Danny might have suffered for many more years without Joe, and David might never have
reunited with him.
After all the commotion, having to thank the cunning rival who got him out of the way was perhaps the most frustrating
