Chapter 1099 Joe carried Charlotte home
Charlotte sat in the car initially obedient, but later became excited and insisted on getting out of the car.
Joe didn’t want to discuss anything with a drunk, and since the Faulkner Family mansion wasn’t far, he
simply opened the car door and let her out, then carried her on his back. Charlotte, who had been causing
a ruckus in the car, inexplicably quieted down on Joe’s back.
Concerned about her well-being, Joe leaned over to the car window and discovered that she had actually
fallen asleep without realizing it.
Joe carefully straightened Charlotte and supported her as they walked forward.
There were not many people on the late-night road, and the dim streetlights cast two merging shadows.

After seeing this scene, Congreve came out and saw Charlotte lying on Joe’s back, with Joe’s face
wearing a foolish smile.
“What did you do to Charlotte?” Congreve quickly approached and shouted.
Joe was startled by Congreve’s sudden appearance and quickly steadied Charlotte on his back, “I…”
As Congreve approached, he caught a faint whiff of alcohol from Charlotte. He immediately glared at Joe,
“Did you make her drink?”
“No,” Joe replied helplessly, “She had two small glasses of rose wine at the restaurant.” Congreve looked
at him suspiciously, but his expression was too sincere to be lying. “Give her to me,” Congreve said,
walking forward and picking up Charlotte.
Sensing being carried away, Charlotte opened her eyes in confusion, and only after seeing that it was
Congreve holding her did she close her eyes and continue to doze off. Congreve’s originally grim
expression softened slightly.
Although Charlotte had gone out and gotten drunk, at least she still had a trace of vigilance.
Without giving Joe any eye contact, Congreve carried Charlotte back to the mansion. Joe stood under the
streetlight for a while before slowly walking back to the direction of the car.
The next day, Charlotte woke up with a headache.
She opened her eyes, held her head, and yawned as she went downstairs. “Dad? Mom?”
