Finally, the day of the competition arrived. It was a Saturday, and the school had arranged a shuttle bus to ferry everyone to and from the venue. The competition was held at Maple Grove Stadium, which was just a forty-minute ride from the University of Maple Grove.

Mr. Jurado was in charge of the team. Unlike most teachers who would fuss and remind their students about a thousand things before a competition, Mr. Jurado was different. After saying, "Just do your best," he took his seat and promptly dozed off.

They set off at eight in the morning and arrived at the venue at exactly eight-fifty. Stepping off the shuttle bus, they were greeted by a sea of people outside the stadium, a mass of heads as far as the eye could see. Each school's students wore their custom uniforms, complete with their school badges on their chests.
