Chapter 1851

Compared to the night she spent locked up, Fiona roughing her up at the night market honestly felt like nothing. She'd brought that mess on herself anyway— Fiona was just defending herself.

After just one night in jail, the once-tough girl was finally forced to think hard about the things she'd done. She hadn't been hurt, not really. As the police chief's favorite niece, the guards mostly looked out for her. But the whole night, the place echoed with screams-raw, desperate, inhuman. She was terrified out of her mind.

In the dead of night, she saw a corpse being dragged away. And in the morning, a long streak of blood ran from her cell door down the hall, still visible even after the hoses tried to wash it away. The metallic smell clung to the air, making her

stomach twist. The minute she heard she had a visitor, she ran anything to get out, even for a moment.

But after a long, desperate talk with her mom, she realized even the woman who'd always spoiled her couldn't talk the guards into letting her out. That's when real fear hit. She'd never felt so helpless.

Then Fiona spoke: she could get her out. In that dark, hopeless place, Fiona's offer was like a lifeline. She latched onto it and wouldn't let go.

"Ms. Fiona, I'm sorry, I swear-I know I messed up! I was stupid, I shouldn't have crossed you. Please, please, just tell them to let me out! I'll do anything. I'll be your servant, your dog, whatever you want-just get me out of here. Please!"
