"Someone get in here and beat him. Just don't kill him," the manager snapped, grabbing the heavy glass ashtray and smashing it against Johnny's head.

He'd put in years of hard work here, just about to get the promotion he'd been dreaming of. Now, thanks to Johnny, everything was ruined.

The manager's eyes burned red with anger. Usually, he'd look the other way, no matter how much trouble Johnny caused. But not tonight. Not after this.

The ashtray shattered on Johnny's skull. Blood streamed down his forehead, and he rolled on the floor in pain, twisting and writhing like a wounded animal.

"What are you all standing around for? Get to it!" the manager yelled.

Fiona stood up, quietly copied the security footage off the SD card, and turned to leave. The Golden Glow had all kinds of ways to deal with people. What mattered now was how the manager handled things.

"If you do this right, your promotion's still possible. But if you screw it up, forget about moving up-you'll be stuck as manager here for life," she said.
