Addison lay flat on her back, body buzzing with pain and fear.

She couldn't move, couldn't do anything but glare up at Fiona, who towered over her. Hatred burned so hot in Addison's eyes, it was like she wanted to tear Fiona apart with her bare hands. She bared her teeth and spat out, "Go ahead! If you're so tough, finish it. Kill me. I never expected to live long anyway—not after ending up in your hands."

Fiona didn't even bother to answer. She just raised her hand slightly and shot a look at the event organizer standing nearby. He was quick on the uptake and immediately nodded in understanding.

A moment later, two huge hunting dogs were led over. Their tails wagged, bodies tense and rippling with muscle, long strings of drool hanging from their jaws. At a single word, they'd leap, pin someone down, and tear them apart. The carnage would be unforgettable.

Suddenly, Addison's bravado crumbled.

She scrambled desperately toward Fiona, dragging her battered body over the rough ground, not caring that the gravel tore open new wounds. Her voice shook as she begged, "Ms. Fiona, please-I was wrong! I know I messed up. Please, don't feed me to the dogs, I'll do anything! It was all Amy, she made me do it. She promised me a million if I pulled it off. She's already given me five hundred thousand, I swear I haven't spent a cent! Ms. Fiona, I'd never lie to you. Take the whole thing, just please, let me live!"

Fiona's only answer was a sharp kick that sent Addison rolling several feet away.
