Chapter 83

Brooklyn

I'm not sure what to do.

I'm sitting across from Colsen, the youngest up and comer in the drug trade.

The one who I was told tried to have me killed.

And I had no idea he was this handsome.

"I have heard of you. And I have to say, it has not all been good things."

"Oh, come on," he says, cocking his head to the side. "It can't have been all bad."

I raise an eyebrow at him letting him know that, yeah. It's all been bad.

"What?" he says, joking. "Nobody told you about my striking good looks or my sense of style?"

I shake my head slowly, fighting the smile on my lips. I can't help it-he's terribly charming.

"Well," he says, giving me a sexy half-smile. "Now you know."

Colsen catches the eye of a waiter and holds up a hand. "Two shots of tequila," he says.

"What-" I say, my eyes following the waiter as he goes. "No, I can't-"

"Oh, come on, Brooklyn," Colsen says, leaning back in his chair.

"Relax. I can tell you've just had the surprise of your life. You need a little something to settle the nerves." The waiter returns, and Colsen takes the glasses him, sliding him a folded bill and giving him a wink.

I can tell by the waiter's pleasure that it's a nice tip.

I hesitate, then take the glass from his hand. The truth is, I could use a little bit of a relaxing right now.
