Chapter 412 412: A terrible way of acquiring an inheritance...

Julian's Estate

Night had slowly conquered the day, draping the estate in silence. Julian returned alone, his assistant occupied with another task.

His shoulders sagged under the weight of exhaustion as he climbed the stairs. Stepping into the study, he paused, drawing a deep breath as though air itself might restore his strength.

Click.

The chandelier above flickered to life, its soft glow spilling across the room and painting his tired frame in pale light.

With measured steps, Julian moved to the large mahogany table at the centre of the study.

The table bore the marks of his life: several business books neatly stacked to one side, a single portrait of his mother and sister in the middle, and project files carefully arranged on the opposite end.

A reading lamp close to the frame's portrait, at the centre was a few other files waiting for him.

He pulled out the chair and settled down, burying himself into a sea of files Maxwell had gathered for him.

Slowly, he opened them, studying them one by one. There were details of the prominent doctors they could lay their hands on in Country Y.

Page after page revealed their credentials, their successes, their failures.

He needed someone exceptional, a doctor capable of handling Jessica's treatment. Yet the deeper he read, the heavier his disappointment grew. None of them were good enough.

He rubbed his brow frustratingly. He had already asked one of the Anderson special team of doctors to come over.

At any cost, he wished she could wake up. His father was already getting the wrong idea. With a deep sigh, he stood up, filling a glass of wine for himself, he strolled over to the balcony of the study.

Standing quietly outside the balcony, he let the soft gentle breeze of the night wrap him in tenderness as his thoughts drifted to his conversation with his father the day after the accident.

Seeing Josh's call that day wasn't surprising, but what was surprising was his statement.

"Julian, your sister seems to be in danger." He stated, shocking the hell out Julian who felt his breath hitch.

He had thought someone might have told him about it, but what he said next left him stumped.

"I might not know this feeling in the past," he said, "but then it was that same feeling I had the day I lost her and now, I am quite certain your sister is in danger."
