Chapter 96: A Father's Agony

Kelvin had spent the day imagining what it would be like if he had a daughter, pondering how to be a good father. Raising a daughter was different from raising a

son.

"Mr. Davis, please, save the baby," Fiona pleaded amid continuous bleeding, "The child must come first, no matter what."

"Conserve your strength, don't talk. I'm taking you to the hospital!"

Kelvin, a father-to-be, was filled with hope for his child, but this scene pierced his heart. He scooped Fiona up in his arms, casting a fierce glance at Penelope.

Penelope was laying on the ground, too weak to move, her body aching all over.

"If Fiona loses the baby... your whole family will pay," Kelvin spat out the harsh words, hurrying away with Fiona in his arms.

Penelope lifted her head, watching Kelvin's retreating figure, carrying Fiona, who clung to his sleeve while he whispered urgently, his face etched with concern. Fiona's fall down the stairs, pregnant as she was, was dangerous.

And what about her? Penelope realized, she too was pregnant, and yet no one cared for her well-being. If anything happened to Fiona's child, the blame would be hers. But it was Fiona who had instigated the fall, grabbing Penelope's hand, wanting them to

tumble together.

The ground was stained with blood, which looked even more harrowing under the moonlight. Penelope thought it was all Fiona's, but then she saw blood seeping from beneath her own body.
