Chapter 124 A Future Void of Children

Fiona's voice rang out, her excitement palpable. "An email from Nathan!" she declared, her words directed at Mr. Davis. "Penelope is still in contact with him!"

A wave of dread washed over Penelope, the room seeming to spin around her. Cold sweat broke out on her back, a physical manifestation of her fear.

The email was indeed from Nathan.

What was she to do now?

A dangerous glint flickered in Kelvin's eyes as he bellowed, "Penelope Anne Winton!"

He snatched the phone from Fiona's grasp, his eyes scanning the email's contents. "Everything is great here, Minnie. Hope you're doing well. I miss you so much, can't wait to be back." Kelvin's grip tightened on the phone, his knuckles turning white. In a fit of anger, he threw the phone, the screen shattering with a loud crack. Penelope gasped, taken aback. She hadn't even had the chance to read the email. Fiona, on the other hand, seemed to revel in the scene. Penelope had unwittingly exposed her secret communication with her ex-fiancé.

"Mr. Davis," Fiona began, her tone pointed, "what else is she capable of? She bears a child out of wedlock, keeps in touch with an ex. In the old days, women like her would have been publicly shamed!"

Penelope opened her mouth to retaliate, but no words came. She stood there, silent and defeated.

Kelvin, too, remained silent. He strode forward, his grip firm on her wrist as he led her towards the car.

"Mr. Davis!" Fiona called after him, her plea desperate. "Give me another chance! I love you. I've never betrayed you. I've only ever been yours!"

Kelvin, however, seemed not to hear her. His rage had consumed him, his actions devoid of rationality. He practically threw Penelope into the car.

"Mr. Davis," the driver asked, his voice trembling, "where to now...?"

"The hospital."

Penelope, still reeling from the sudden turn of events, stiffened at the word "hospital." Her papnis unidazerin tar
