Chapter 179 Leaving LA for Abroad

Kelvin knew that any further submission in front of his Grandpa would only invite fiercer opposition from the Davis family to his marriage to Penelope.

There could be no retreat. He had to win.

Gazing out into the night, Kelvin contemplated. A blissful marriage had to win the family's blessing.

Yes... he would fight for Penelope's and his happiness.

There would come a day.

The next day at 8.00 a.m.

As Kelvin hoped that he would hear soft footsteps approaching from outside his ward.

It was Penelope.

He could tell from the sound of the steps - it had to be her.

Yet Penelope hesitated at the door for a long time before she pushed it open. She had been brought here by a driver first thing in the morning, and no one had explained anything to her.

She had no idea what had occurred.

But Penelope could guess there had been some showdown between Kelvin and Grandpa Davis.

One was keeping her from Kelvin while the other was insistent on seeing her.

"Come in; what are you dawdling out there for?" Kelvin's voice emerged. "Do I need to come and get you?"

Startled, Penelope quickly walked inside.

He better not make any sudden moves!

Kelvin's gaze never left her. Wherever she went, his eyes followed.

"What's so urgent that you dragged me here first thing in the morning?" Penelope said indifferently. "You've got caregivers. You don't need me."

She had to be colder and more ruthless if she was to resist being swayed by Kelvin's tender approaches.

Kelvin replied shyly, "...I wanted to see you."

"Oh." Penelope stood at the foot of the bed, her eyes darting everywhere but at him.

Seeing her this way, Kelvin squinted, "What did Grandpa tell you?"

She tersely replied, "Nothing."

He probed, "Don't lie to me."

"I'm not lying," Penelope retorted. "I've been at The King Manor."

Kelvin began speaking, "I'll let you go back to the company. Let you be free again. But for now..."

For now, he wanted her by his side more than anything. But Kelvin left those words unsaid.
