Daniel's brow furrowed as a cold realization hit him.

Sherman.

Of course this had Sherman written all over it.

As the largest shareholder of the Robinson Group, Sherman would never let Jake make such a drastic move unless it was his own idea. Only Sherman had that kind of authority. And only Sherman could be this ruthless.

But why? Daniel knew Sherman liked Rebecca. Why, then, would he do something so cruel? If you care about someone, aren't you supposed to protect them? With the way Sherman was hurting Rebecca, how could he expect her to ever forgive him?

Agitated and unable to sit still, Daniel headed straight for the Christensen Group.

He strode into Sherman's office, his voice sharp. "Sherman, was it you who told my father to remove me from my position?"

Sherman, unfazed, turned the cross in his hands and gave a simple nod. "Yes."

Daniel felt his frustration rising. "Why, Sherman? Do you realize the Morris Group is on the verge of bankruptcy? Are you really just going to stand by and watch Ms. Morris lose everything?"

Sherman continued to turn the cross between his fingers, his tone icy. "What does the Morris family's bankruptcy have to do with me?"

Daniel clenched his jaw. "I'm still the general manager of the Robinson Group. How could you just have me removed without so much as a warning?"

If word of this got out, how could he show his face again?
