Chapter 14

As Allison's thoughts wandered through past memories, she snapped back to the present and assured Cindy, "Don't worry, I'm heading back to my hometown in a couple of days and won't be coming back."

Cindy was caught off guard by how easily she convinced Allison to leave. It seemed almost too easy, leaving her momentarily speechless.

Was Allison really that easy to shoo away? She didn't even ask for anything in return.

Something felt off, but Cindy couldn't quite figure out what it was.

Allison glanced at her watch and said, "I can't stay to chat. I've got something to take care of. Goodbye."

Not waiting for a response, Allison got up, grabbed her bag from her room, and hurried out the door.

Cindy was left standing there, bewildered. Did Allison really just walk out like that?
