After making sure Allison was sound asleep and wouldn't be causing any more chaos, Joshua quietly made his way to the living room. Their apartment had two bedrooms and a living room, but the spare room lacked a bed. So tonight, he'd have to crash on the couch. The night was quiet, offering a deep, uninterrupted sleep.

As dawn broke, the first light of day streamed in. Allison, a creature of habit, always woke up early and naturally, right on time. But today, she was greeted by the familiar thump of a hangover headache. Taking a moment to clear her head, she recalled bits and pieces of the previous night: a party with colleagues, followed by a few too many drinks at a bar.
