Chapter 181

Joshua pursed his lips into a tight line. His eyes were downcast, hiding whatever emotions might have been swirling inside him. He kept quiet. No one knew what he's thinking.

After a moment, Ray spoke with a serious tone, "Joshua, remember this: you can't let such a thing happen again. You're the only heir of the Fisher family. Don't risk your future for a woman, got it?"

Joshua's hands, hanging by his sides, tensed a little. His eyes were shadowed, but he replied deeply, "I understand."

Ray then turned to Ben, saying, "From here on, unless Joshua's breaking our family rules or the law, don't get in his way."

Ben felt a wave of frustration. Even though he was still strong and able, the family's power and legacy had skipped over him, straight from Ray to Joshua. Despite his frustrations, Ben didn't dare voice any objections in front of Ray.

The mess started with his illegitimate kid. If he had been more disciplined back then, none of this would have happened. He had no right to challenge this, no matter how upset or unwilling he felt. Ben comforted himself with the thought that at least his son was the one in charge, not some outsider. He nodded and said, "I understand."
