Chapter 333

"Alright, hurry up. If the boss shows up and you're not around, you know how he gets."

"Yeah, yeah, I'm on it."

...

Lillian blinked awake three hours later.

As her awareness slowly returned, she took in her surroundings. She was in a dark, cramped space, much like the cabin on the ship. Feeling the movement beneath her, Lillian guessed she was in a vehicle. This pitch-black area was probably the back of a large truck.

Her clothes were still drenched, but someone had tossed a heavy blanket over her, seemingly to keep her from freezing. Lillian wrapped the blanket tightly around herself, hugging her arms close, her shoulders trembling with quiet sobs. This journey had been unbelievably tough.

Gone was the image of a pampered heiress; she didn't need a mirror to know she looked more like a street beggar now. She cried softly, and when she grew too tired to continue, she leaned against the cold metal wall of the truck. Even with the blanket, her wet clothes chilled her to the bone, making her shiver as if she were stuck in an icebox.

Lillian figured the truck was headed toward Oak Lake. In a few more hours, she'd finally see Joshua.
