Chapter 335

Half an hour later, Thomas was itching to tell Joshua that they were running out of time, and Lillian was really hitting her breaking point. Was Joshua seriously going to let her die out here today?

Thomas shot Joshua a look, unsure whether to speak up or not. It wasn't that he felt sorry for Lillian-she was as crafty as a fox, with more than a few skeletons in her closet. Compared to Lillian's past deeds against innocent folks, today's punishment was just a slap on the wrist. But if Lillian ended up dead because of Joshua today, explaining that to Ray and the family matriarch would be a nightmare.

Joshua's face was as unreadable as ever, showing no sign of stopping. Thomas couldn't quite figure out what Joshua was thinking. He knew Allison meant the world to Joshua, and he had no doubt Joshua would go to extremes to avenge her. But what about the fallout with the family? Lillian was, after all, the adopted daughter of the Fisher family, and the matriarch doted on her. From what Thomas knew, Ray and the matriarch would expect Lillian to face legal justice, not vigilante retribution.

Just when Thomas thought Joshua was about to let Lillian freeze in the biting cold of that snowy night, Joshua made a subtle gesture. Thomas got the message right away and spoke into his radio, "That's enough, stop."

As the helicopter began its descent, Lillian was a sorry sight-frozen, her face an eerie shade of purple, lips black, and both her eyelashes and hair were crusted with ice and snow. She lay there, looking as lifeless as a ragdoll.

In a voice as cold as the night, Joshua ordered Thomas, "Get the medics to check her over. I don't want her dying that easily."

"On it, Joshua."

Lillian was barely pulled back from the brink and ended up in the base's infirmary, hanging on by a thread.
