"Allie, just wait here for me, okay? I'll be back in a minute," Allison said.

Brooklyn nodded. "Okay."

Joshua didn't waste any time he led Allison straight to the executive elevator and pressed the button for the twenty-eighth floor.

Inside, it was just the two of them. The small space felt even smaller in the quiet, their breathing the only sound.

Joshua stood right next to Allison, so close she could smell his cologne-a cool, woody scent that suited him perfectly. The space between them was practically nonexistent, their clothes almost touching.

It was a little too close for comfort. Allison edged away, trying to put some space between them.

Joshua's eyes caught her movement. He raised an eyebrow and leaned down, his lips nearly brushing her ear. "Afraid I might bite?" he whispered, his voice low and teasing.

Allison's ears turned pink. She pressed her lips together, not answering.

A lazy smile spread across Joshua's face, satisfied.
