Chapter 56
Isabella sighed. “Gwen, you are too kind.”
“Humph, who am I? I don’t have time to argue with them over these petty things,” Gwendolyn responded.
Isabella was happy to see Gwendolyn in a good mood.
She put away her laptop, knelt in front of the bed, and suddenly kissed Clayton on his face. “That’s great! Everything is over.”
Clayton was stunned.
Isabella was also stunned and hurriedly stood up. “I’ll make coffee.”
However, Clayton immediately grabbed her. He would never let such an opportunity slip away.
On the day when Gwendolyn officially resumed work, entertainment reporters gathered around the shooting site. The director politely asked Steven if Gwendolyn could hold a press conference on the scene so that the reporters could leave and not pester them anymore. That was to allow them and the neighboring crew to resume filming normally.
Steven and Gwendolyn agreed.
Surrounded by the crowd, Gwendolyn sat on the stage gracefully while reporters from various media outlets took photos from different angles. She appeared neither unhappy nor satisfied, treating it like any other new work release conference.
“Ms. Carey, please tell us your opinion about this incident.” The reporters bombarded Gwendolyn with questions.
Gwendolyn smiled, her impeccable face capturing everyone’s attention, and said, “I don’t have any opinions. As my father said, a clean hand wants no washing. I believe that justice is in people’s hearts.”
“Ms. Carey, I heard that you and your parents had a fight because of your acting career. Your father stood up for you this time. Did compromise with your parents and decided to quit showbiz?”
Gwendolyn smiled and looked at the reporter as if she had heard a joke. “Your job must feel just as meaningful to you, but in your parents” eyes, it might be seen as a violation of privacy. Would you give up your job for your parents‘ beliefs? Does this difference in philosophy strain your relationship with your parents? Would you abandon your parents because of your job? Would they disown you for being youthful, willful, and pursuing your ideals?”
The crowd was silent for a few seconds and then burst into applause.
Gwendolyn answered every sharp question perfectly.
She answered the friendly questions humorously and retorted the harsh ones mercilessly.
She used to be just a new actress, known for her beauty and talent in acting. However, since she wasn’t particularly famous and had never held a separate press conference before, no one had witnessed her eloquence.
And then, all the entertainment reporters couldn’t help but exclaim that Gwendolyn was not just an eye candy.
Victor smiled at the beautiful and delicate face on TV. He said to Maggie, “This girl is not bad! You can go and sign her to our company. Make the newly acquired film company her studio.”
