A man in a silk suit and a badge labeled "Land Department" was showing Harvey York a deathly glare.
It was as if Harvey's existence was affecting his promotion and stealing his favorite item.
Harvey could not care less about the odd gazes when he looked around him and smiled.
“Hello, everyone. We’re all colleagues from now on.
"We naturally don’t have much experience since we only recently took position.
“I do hope that you'll all support Madam Kairi."
“Heh! You realize that you’re inexperienced?
The director of the land department glared at Harvey disdainfully.
“I know that you appointed fifty men to work here, Madam Kairi...

“But the government isn't playing games here.
“I have no opinion if you're appointing just a few men...
“But why would you put a kept man like him in such an important position?
“Do you think we’re playing games here?
“The position has no actual power, but it represents the government’s image!
"On special occasions, he can even assume the duty of both the first and second-in-command!
“I say that we need an experienced person to be in this position.
“Am I wrong?”
Harvey glanced at the documents on the table while the man was making things more complicated for Kairi Patel.
Chanse Foster, the director of the land department, was born into a family of government officials. It was said his grandfather had already started working in the government and was deeply connected with the Golden Sands government.
More importantly, the consultant position was supposed to be Chanse's retired father.
Simply put, Harvey essentially robbed Chanse's family of their authority.
Harvey finally understood why Blaine would agree to the conditions.
Even he was being questioned for holding the position, let alone all the others.
If they were not careful, the other forty-nine people Kairi appointed might turn into puppets for other people.
If Kairi could not handle the situation flawlessly, she would have no credibility in the Golden Sands government in the future.
Without that, she would not be able to do many things.
