Chapter 80 Love Fuels Desire

With a swift motion, David untied the belt of Caroline’s robe. It slipped to the floor without a sound.

His bronze skin contrasted sharply with her snowy white complexion, creating a striking visual.

Each touch of his lips left a mark on her skin.

At first, Caroline managed to maintain a calm exterior, but soon she felt something was off.

David seemed serious this time–like he wasn’t going to stop. He seemed intent on taking things further.

Why was he doing this now? Why now? What had changed?

He’d had plenty of chances before to take things further, but he had always stopped. Tonight shouldn’t be any different–should it?

Feeling uncertain, Caroline asked, “Doesn’t love drive the desire to be intimate with someone? You don’t love me, so what’s the point of doing this?”

David’s lips moved back to her ear, his breath hot and uneven. “Don’t you know? Men can separate love from physical desires.”

She challenged him, “Can you, though?”

“Caroline, I’m still just a man.”

“No,” she said firmly. “You’re different. You demand perfection–not just physically, but emotionally too.”

She had always understood this about David. He was a man accustomed to the best of everything, someone who wouldn’t settle for less than what was entirely his and exactly how he wanted it.
