As Sumner watched Paige’s figure gradually disappear, he stood in the wind for an extended period, lost in thought.

During their journey home, Lindsey and Domenic maintained a silent atmosphere, exchanging no words.

The moment Domenic stepped into the apartment, he slipped on his slippers, headed straight for the bathroom, and securely locked the door behind him.

Domenic turned on the tap, repeatedly splashing cold water on his face.

With his hands on either side of the sink, he let the water trickle down his face, attempting to ease the tension.

He undid the button on his collar, making a conscious effort to quell the anger fueled by feelings of jealousy and suspicion.

He took several deep breaths and dried his face with a towel before opening the bathroom door.

Upon opening the door, he found Lindsey waiting for him at the door.

Lindsey and Domenic exchanged looks, each gauging the other.
