Chapter 245

The next day was Saturday. Suzanne had the day off, but since she had already made plans with Shane to visit the Lloyd family, she got up at the crack of dawn. She had barely sat down at the breakfast table when her phone rang. It was Shane.

Before Suzanne could say a word, Shane's playful voice rang out. "Hey, Ms. Yates, why don't you let me swing by and pick you up?"

Suzanne took a sip of her milk and replied without hesitation, "No thanks. I'm driving myself."

At that, Shane's face fell, his eyes clouding over with disappointment. He slumped over his steering wheel and grumbled, "Ever since you moved out of your old place, I don't even know where you're living. Why do you have to be so secretive?"

Then, as if a sudden thought had struck him, he sat up straight and blurted out, "Tell me, are you hiding a man at home?"

Suzanne nearly choked on her drink, coughing harshly as Shane's tone shifted from playful to incredulous. "No way! Am I right?" he pressed, his voice rising. "Which guy is it, huh?"
