I lay in my bed as I slipped in and out of consciousness. I try to scream for help, but my voice is barely a whisper. Pain
stabs me in every one of my joints causing my body to contort into weird shapes. My tendons feel as if they are a rubber
band about to snap. Also, my body feels as if it is on fire as sweat begins to bead on my forehead and drip into my eyes
causing them to burn. I hear a loud crack and I scream as I am plunged into darkness.

We are following, the best we can, our dragons as they fly towards the palace. As we are doing so, we glance at each
other in bewilderment. We are all thinking the same thing ‘How could our mates have been in the palace when it was
vacated for our Grand Ceremony?’ Once our dragons neared the palace, they shrunk down to the size of a medium-sized
dog and flew through an open window. It would have been so much easier had they remained in our bodies and guided
us. Unfortunately, our dragons, like some other noble dragons, have become crazed by the desire to mate. They abandon
their human to seek out their mate and return often days or a week later.
The floor that our dragons entered happens to be the floor that our rooms are on. Anxious to see our mates and their
dragons, we raced up the steps two and three at a time. Once we were on our floor, we checked our rooms first but there was no sign of our dragons so we checked the other rooms. Saving the last room at the end of the hall nearest the
servant staircase for last, we walked together. This room is Avery’s, but our dragons can’t be in there because she’s
