"Have you forgotten that you still owe me money? Eliza, once you pay back the money, we can talk about divorce. Maybe then..." Maybe then, he would let her go.

Eliza felt a wave of disappointment wash over her. He never intended to let her go. His words were just a reminder that she couldn't immediately repay the two million.

"If I can give you two million now, would you agree to divorce me and let me go?" She was the same as before; all she wanted was her freedom. "Can you?" He stayed silent.

Eliza let out a soft laugh. His silence said it all-his earlier promises were empty. Even if she paid him back, he still wouldn't let her go if he didn't want to.

"Then I have to ask, where would you get these two million?"

Eliza met his gaze directly. "Does it matter? As long as I pay you back, that should be enough."

"So, if I still don't let you go, it would seem like I can't live without you." His eyes were cold, almost cruel. "With interest, I want three million. When you've paid it all, then I'll draw up the divorce papers." Eliza looked up. Was he finally agreeing to let her go?

"I'll do it as soon as possible," she said.

He laughed, a mocking sound. "Then I'm curious to see how you manage to gather three million."

Their conversation ended on a sour note again.

As the door slammed shut, Eliza felt nothing.

She indeed didn't have that money, but she could borrow, and if not, she'd sell her house, sell everything she could, including herself.
